learn new technology, and new brands came to us.”
The elder Reyes grew the company enough to need a
building larger than his garage. He bought the company’s ;rst
building in 1986.
In 1989, the younger Reyes joined the business.
“Since I was a teenager, I’ve worked with my father during
summers, and I started to love what he did,” Reyes said. “After
high school, I started with a part-time job. When I was about
to ;nish college, I was full time.”
PEI manufacturer members, he said, play a huge part in
recruiting distributors to PEI.
“In 1988, if I remember well,” Reyes said, “Gilbarco asked
us to be a member so we could learn from the manufacturer
and meet new suppliers and customers. Since then, we’ve
been a member. It’s opened opportunities and relationships.”
Many of those relationships were built during the PEI
“Since 1999, I’ve been attending every single year and
meeting great people,” Reyes said. “That helps me in my new
projects. My customers appreciate that I’m available to come
with a solution to their problems.”
Taking those solutions home to Guatemala fueled much of
