EPA employees across the agency worried they would
lose their jobs. At best, higher-ranking employees didn’t know
whether they’d have staffs.
“EPA is in a very different place today,” said Carolyn
Hoskinson, director of the EPA Of;ce of Underground
Storage Tanks (OUST), in April.
She presented a regulatory update
during the PEI Women Spring Conference
in Savannah, Georgia.
“If I’d made this presentation six
months ago, I’d be much more con;dent
about regulation updates — I don’t know.”
Hoskinson, a 27-year EPA veteran, said
then that if she had to guess, she’d say a lot
of state UST programs will close because
they rely on federal grants. Among projects
in jeopardy is the state program approval
The proposed EPA funding would slash the agency’s
annual budget from $8.2 billion to $6.1 billion and reallocate
much of the cuts to boost defense spending by $50 billion,
according to The Washington Post article.
