Catalina Island. More than 40 young
execs and guests took a one-hour ferry to
the island for a golf cart scavenger hunt
and lunch at the Descano Beach Club
Back on the Queen Mary that evening,
RDM sponsored a welcome station for
check-in at the Black & White Ball.

and history from the ship’s commodore

Do Again.” Panelists were: Joey Batchelor,
president and CEO of Guardian Fueling
Technologies; Paola Bravo, president
and CEO of S. Bravo Systems; Dennis
Rethmeier, owner and retired CEO of
Western Pump Inc. and 2011 PEI presi-
dent; and Steve Trabilsy, commercial and
;eet sales manager at Stenstrom Petroleum
Services Group and 2016 PEI president.
Each told his or her story, including
troubles and solutions.
“The most important thing,” Batchelor
said. “Adversity is your friend.”
Batchelor also said building a culture of
accountability is a must for any business.
Rethmeier explained that he’d spent 20
years in management roles at two Fortune
500 companies when he bought his company at age 44.
“I said, ‘I think I can ;gure out how
to run that business before I go broke,’”
