KW: NEE has been involved with petroleum equipment
since 1947. How did that come about?
McCombie: The origin of NEE came from several companies from different parts of Canada that were involved
with petroleum handling equipment as far back as 1947,
including the early introductions of Gilbert & Barker pumps,
Liquid Controls meters, Velcon ;lters and Blackmer pumps.
Now NEE has close to 500 employees in 15 branches
covering all major urban centers in Canada, spanning a driving distance of 4,800 miles from our most eastern to western
branches. Needless to say, our national support personnel
have to put in a lot of air time.

KW: NEE does a lot more than just petroleum equip-
ment. What else does NEE do?
McCombie: National sales and distribution of petroleum
equipment makes up a signi;cant portion of our business,
with major contribution from our specialized service operations. Of equal importance are sales and distribution of
propane, hearth and HVAC equipment.
We are the principal distribution channel in Canada for
the industries’ top manufacturers, collectively carrying over
$50 million of inventory. We provide services:
• Engineering and project management for bulk fuel
handling and loading systems, including mechanical,
electrical, automation process and drawings.
• Weights and measures volumetric inspections, calibration and meter provers from wellhead to bulk terminal
and truck and retail, including crude oil, re;ned fuels,
propane, DEF and lubricants.
• Fuel truck system fabrication, inspection and repairs.
• Repair, maintenance, inspection and testing for bulk
plant, industrial, aviation, commercial, marine and retail
