To ;nd out more about
working one’s way toward the top,
the PEI Journal interviewed Tiina
McCombie, petroleum marketing
director at Canada’s largest energy-
related distributor, National Energy
Equipment Inc (NEE).
McCombie also represents
District 4 distributors on the PEI
board of directors.
KW: How did you end up at NEE?
McCombie: I started working in
the petroleum equipment indus-
try in 1980 when I was hired as a
customer service rep in Vancouver,
British Columbia. I never imagined
then that it would become the
springboard to a lifelong career. I
really enjoyed the technical aspects
and started taking technical training
product courses together with busi-
ness administration studies in college
to further my education.
Within a few years, I became
an outside sales rep and spent the
next decade selling equipment and
designing systems in pipeline, terminal, bulk plant, marine, aviation,
commercial and retail petroleum.
In the ’90s, I advanced to business
management and eventually invested
as a partner in Lafon Flo Systems,
which was later sold to RNG Group.
KW: Who owns NEE?
McCombie: National Energy
Equipment acquired the petroleum
and propane divisions of RNG
Group in 2002.
