JOURNAL: Stating that a piece of equipment
is compatible with the substance to be stored,
metered and dispensed usually applies for the
life of the equipment. Are you affirming the
“compatibility” of your dispensers in that sense?
JOHNSON: Yes. The key for us is that we test long term,
and our tests show that the standard dispensers operate
safely in the presence of 15 percent ethanol.
NEGLEY: Agree. We don’t put a time element on our
position. If it’s good enough to last for two years, then
it will last for the life of the product. There’s not a time
factor on it for us.
JOURNAL: So, that’s important. It’s not like a classic
product warranty in another context that might say,
“We warrant this product for two years, and after that
all bets are off.” You’re saying that your dispensers
should operate safely and fit the purpose. Period.

JOURNAL: Does the warranty mean that marketers
can now safely dispense E15 in standard E10-listed
equipment as far as you are concerned? It sounds
like the answer is yes.
JOHNSON: Our warranty covers standard dispensers
up to 15 percent ethanol. And, yes, they operate safely
with that level of ethanol content.
NEGLEY: The answer is yes. Our own testing shows
that standard dispensers can safely dispense E15.
